The Inaugural Event for NEXT Engineers – Discovery!
NEXT Engineers is a global college-readiness initiative to increase the diversity of young people (ages 13-18) in engineering. Our GE network of volunteers is seeking to inspire and build students' engineering identity and encourage them to pursue engineering in higher education.
Volunteers will be leading 9th grade students in groups of 4 to complete a "Water Tower Challenge." Using everyday materials, students will design and build a water tower that can supply and shut off water as needed. The system will deliver water to a paper cup that is 36in away. Teams will design their tower, build & test their system, evaluate their results, and share observations with the class. Lunch will be provided for volunteers!
